About Me

My name is David Nolan from Newry in N.Ireland. I began aeromodelling with fixed wing over twenty years ago but quickly became addicted to model helicopters and I have never looked back. Over the last eight years, in particular, I have been heavily involved in competitions entering the world renowned 3D Masters in 2005, 6, 7 and 8 and the Extreme Flight Championship (XFC) in the USA 2008. I have also entered the UK 3D Championship for the first time in 2010, Scottish Nationals in 2007 and 2008 and Irish Nationals, winning that event back to back in 2006 and 2007. I have also taken part in the Zone World Knockout competition in 2012 and 13.

Throughout the year I try to attend as many events as possible and in the last few years I have attended such events as the IRCHA Jamboree (USA), twice yearly Charmouth Funfly (UK), and Irish events such as the Ballymoney, Nutts Corner, Galway, Waterford, Letterkenny and Hangar 45 fun fly events. I have also judged at the 3DX Ireland competition in 2007, 2008 and 2009, also being the principle event organiser for the 2007 and 2009 events. I also had the pleasure to judge and demo at the 3DI competition in Shannon 2012.

In July 2008 I was made European Team Manager for my helicopter sponsor Miniature Aircraft USA, based in Billings, Montana USA which has added another dimension to my modelling. It allows me to contribute much more to the development of the MA Flight Team and indeed the helicopters we fly.
