3DX Canopies is a new company based right here in Ireland who specialise in offering very reasonably priced custom canopy spray work to rival the best in the world. I have been very fortunate to become involved with 3DX Canopies recently promoting their work and I was delighted on Saturday to collect my new custom sprayed signature canopy. Shana from 3DX Canopies (the talented artist responsible for my canopy design) was able to meet with me to present the canopies in person and I was delighted with the high quality work that had gone into making them. Delamont Park Display

Had a great day today with the rest of the guys from the club (Banbridge Aeromodelling Club) doing a public model display for Down county council and Delamont Park just outside Downpatrick. The weather was great and the display went really well with no mishaps. There was a fantastic public turnout for the display and all our efforts were very well received, all in all a great day. You can see in the photo there is a huge stone monument in the background. It always proves fun to play with and thankfully didn’t cost us any models…..not this time anyway.

Meeting up with Tim Schoonard

Whilst on a summer holiday in Florida this July I had the opportunity to meet up with the Miniature Aircraft USA Senior Design Architect and my old friend Tim Schoonard at his home in the sunshine state. It was great to meet up with Tim again and chat about how things are progressing for him in his new role since selling MA to Flyco last year. He was very upbeat about the company move and we spent most of the day discussing the soon to be released “Furion 6″ 10s electric model (prototypes of this model can be seen in the background of the photo), details of which can be found at the HeliWholesaler website. We also chatted in detail about the future models the company has in the pipeline. Let’s just say the future looks very promising for Miniature Aircraft USA Inc. It was great to meet up with Tim and I hope it isn’t as long until the next time we meet up.

IMAC N.Ireland 2010 – 28th,29th & 30th May

This weekend sees the return of the IMAC scene to N.Ireland for what is promising to be an exciting weekend already. Flying begins today (Friday) and continues throughout the weekend at the fantastic Tyrella beach flying site where the event kicked off for the first time last year.

Caledon Vintage Rally – April 17th 2010

On Saturday April 17th, myself and a few members of Banbridge Aeromodelling Club will be putting on a model aircraft display at Caledon Vintage Rally, Caledon Co.Tyrone. It is a fun day out with lots to see and well worth a look if you are in the area. The display cannot be missed as the main field is situated just off the main road into the village and is always well signposted. Hope to see some of you there.

Today the new CML distribution Flight Team website “Flight Hub” went live, thanks to the CML Flight Team Manager and IMAC champ Steve Mallinder. With full information on all the fixed wing and helicopter pilots currently on the CML Team this represents a new addition to the CML Team family, joining the already very successful surface team. The new MA Fury 55

Well the waiting is over as today the delivery man arrived with my new Miniature Aircraft Fury 55. It has been quite a long time in development, but from first glances, at even the box itself, and a brief look inside I can see that the wait has certainly been worth it. The high quality of the kit is just typical MA with a few new tweaks thrown in for good measure like the fantastic CanoMod canopy and MA building towel as standard with the kit, but one thing is for sure, this new Fury 55 is a winner.
