A fresh new look for 3D Heli Ireland

Welcome to the new look 3D Heli Ireland, which has been designed with convenience and ease of use in mind. The old “clunky” version will celebrate it’s 4th birthday on the first of Feb 2010 and so it seems like a good time for it to retire and make way for the new.

This new look site will be clearly accessible to all internet browsers which was not the case with the older version, leaving it now open for all to view and enjoy. If you experience any difficulties with the site please let me know by emailing me at info@3dheliireland.com

Thanks and enjoy
David

New look SAB blades now available

Happy new year guys!! let’s hope 2010 is a good one for us all…….

Just before Christmas I received the new look SAB blades. Essentially the blades are the same as the previous versions however there us now a clear distinction between the “aggressive” blades which are red pattern and the “less aggressive” blades, which are the white pattern and are suitable for FIA and more precise 3D styles.

I think they look just great and so far I have tried the 600mm and 690mm sized blades and they have performed fantastically. But be aware, the new “Red Devil ” style blades although stable are super fast when pushed hard and so are not for the faint hearted…..so next time you need blades give the UK distributor for SAB blades, Motors & Rotors a call (01923 270405) and tell Dave I sent you.

Graupner Fun Chinook

…nothing like xmas fun…

As one of his Christmas presents I got my son a “Graupner Fun Chinook” from Motors & Rotors. This little single cell model is amazing fun and value for money for indoors and at £25 which has everything you need to fly including heli with cool coloured lighting underneath for when you are in darker rooms, transmitter and charger. The most controlable indoor model in it’s price bracket and well worth a look.

Ballymoney Christmas Funfly

The weather may have been cold and the roads may have been the worst I have ever driven on but it was a calm day and there was a good turnout for this annual Christmas get together. A great time was had by all, many thanks to the organisers.

Indoor

Another successful night of indoor flying. A great turnout and no major crashes….:-)

3DX Ireland 2009

Following the great success of the 2007 and 2008 events preparations have begun for 3DX Ireland 2009. The venue has returned to Tarsan Lane, Portadown in N.Ireland for 2009 (which was also the venue for the 2007 event) and will be held on 15th, 16th and 17th May 2009.

The competition itself will be held over the Saturday and Sunday with the preliminary rounds for all pilots held on the Saturday with the top pilots going through to the finals on the Sunday. The whole day on Friday, and the rest of Saturday and Sunday where the competition is not being held is open to all heli pilots to just fly and have fun.

The competition format is essentially the same as before with all pilots being asked to fly a three minute Freestyle round (which can be to music if required) and a Set Manoeuvre round which will be any five manoeuvres chosen from the current 3DX Set list where the total ‘K’ factor of the manoeuvres cannot total any more than 6. The current list is to be found at http://www.fly3dx.com/setManoeuvres.htm

A typical example would be to choose three manoeuvres with a ‘K’ factor of 1 and two manoeuvres with a ‘K’ factor of 1.5 to give a total ‘K’ factor of 6. Other combinations are possible and lower totals of ‘K’ are also acceptable.

The competition is open to all pilots from the island of Ireland only.

More information will follow shortly on the application process, prizes, judges and special guest demo pilots.

Keep an eye on www.3dxireland.com for more info.

Please can you pass this mail onto anyone else you feel it may interest and if possible ask them to reply to info@3dxireland.com to be added to the mailing list.

I look forward to seeing you all at 3DX Ireland 2009.
